Rado has roped in renowned industrial designer Konstantin Grcic to reimagine the brand’s highly recognizable Ceramica model. The New Ceramica is a contemporary interpretation that retains the strong geometric shape of the original.

The new Ceramica uses high-tech ceramic too like the original. The linear bracelet silhouette of the original evolves into a more classic watch shape now. The men’s models now have a matte finish and uses some interesting typography on the dial which Grcic says is inspired by pilots watches. “The design of the dials is bold and legible. I took inspiration from pilot watches – I like them for their straightforward, clear graphics.”

The signature edition with the Pilots watch like typography is a limited to 701 pieces; the entire range is powered by quartz movements. The bracelet of the signature edition is made from matt black high-tech ceramic links with a black PVD steel inner chain and a brushed titanium 3-fold buckle. This watch has a matte black high-tech ceramic monobloc case and a black PVD coated titanium case back. The watch is priced at $2,100.

Fans of sub-dials can opt for the matt model featuring a small second counter, with grey printed indexes adding to the monochrome minimalist appeal. The ladies watches include two diamond-studded pieces in a choice of either glossy black or white high-tech ceramic. Boasting silver coloured detailing and four diamonds on the dial, the ladies’ Ceramica offers the same high-impact presence on the wrist, but in a smaller form factor.
