Apple is only behind Rolex in terms of retail sales worldwide, if you believe the presentation at the launch of the new Apple Watch Series 2, the next generation of the world’s most popular smartwatch. The most significant upgrade in the Series 2 is that the smartwatch is now swim-proof with a water resistance 50 meters and has a built-in GPS so users can now run without an iPhone.

The updated OS, watchOS 3, makes it simpler to launch apps instantly, either from the watch face or with the new Dock, which displays the latest information already updated in the background. New fitness and health capabilities include a Breathe app, designed to encourage users to take a moment in their day to do deep breathing exercises for relaxation and stress reduction. The Activity app now includes the ability to share, compare and compete, keeping friends and family motivated. Apart from the existing Hermès collaboration, Apple has partnered with Nike for the S2 to create an Apple Watch Nike+ that integrates well with the sportswear brand’s running app.  This edition is paired with a perforated rubber strap. A new ceramic case debuts for the first time replacing the gold Apple Watch Edition.

New watch faces including Minnie Mouse, Activity and Numerals.
