The Carl F. Bucherer Manero PowerReserve, one of the Lucerne brand’s most distinctive timepieces, has heretofore been offered only with classical silver and black dials. At Baselworld 2017, however, Bucherer reached out to fans seeking a more daring, contemporary look, debuting two new models of the Manero Power Reserve with dazzling dials in midnight blue and pine green.

A more daring duo from CFB this year

While the watch is named for its most visually interesting feature — its semicircular power reserve display, with hand-type indicator, at 3 o’clock, its dial offers a number of useful and attractive displays: a large date in a double window at 11 o’clock, day-of-the-week indication at 9 o’clock, and small seconds in a subdial at 9 o’clock.

Both the green and blue dials were created using what CFB refers to as a “highly intricate process” that produces, rather than a uniform color, a “degradé” effect in which the deep, vivid hue on the outer edges of the dials softly fade to a brilliant, lighter shade in the center. The stainless steel case of the Manero PowerReserve measures 42.5 mm in diameter and 12.54 mm thick and is water-resistant to 30 meters. The domed sapphire crystal covering the dial has nonreflective coating on both sides. A bit like the fume dials we've seen from H. Moser & Cie. in the past.

The Caliber CFB A1011 is based on the CFB A1000

The movement, visible through a caseback window, is Carl F. Bucherer’s automatic Caliber CFB A1011, a descendant of the company’s first in-house movement, Caliber CFB A1000, introduced in 2008. The movement’s most notable component, its peripheral winding rotor, winds the mainspring in both directions, amassing a power reserve of at least 55 hours — more than two full days — when fully wound.

The calfskin straps of the new Manero Power Reserve watches match the deep blue and green tones on the outer edges of the colorful dials, and fasten to the wrist with a steel pin-lock folding clasp. Each model is limited to 188 pieces and carries a retail price of $11,000.
