Chopard will present the first edition of the Chopard Classic Rally Dubai, a two-day competitive regularity rally from November 10-11 this year. Held in association Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons and Emaar Properties, this rally is expected to see participation from 30 teams.
Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Chopard co-president and a passionate driver of collector’s cars, will be taking part in this first edition, competing along with legendary rally driver Jacky Ickx. The participants will drive their vintage cars from Dubai – the Burj Khalifa will be the flag-off point - and head towards the northern emirates, passing by Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah and finally Ras Al Khaimah.
The rally map follows a different challenging itinerary each day throughout the UAE with the Hatta and Jebel Jais mountains as main landscapes. A gala dinner will be held on the evening of the final day during which the winners of the regularity will be rewarded.
Chopard has been involved in the many classic rallies, it is a sponsor of the classic Mille Miglia race in Italy and Grand Prix de Monaco Historique. The brand has produced an entire collection to mark their association with the Mille Miglia race. “People say that lovers of fine cars also have a great weakness for fine timepieces and vice versa. In both cases, sporting elegance and outstanding performance are especially important,” said Scheufele – himself a dedicated classic car enthusiast – at the launch of the brand’s first Mille Miglia watch collection way back in 1988.
A timekeeping partner of the Mille Miglia since 1988, the brand marked 90 years of the classic open-road endurance race with a very special timepiece, the Chopard Mille Miglia Classic XL 90th Anniversary Limited Edition (see above pic) earlier this year.
Marking the first Chopard Classic Rally Dubai 2017, Chopard will unveil the L.U.C Time Traveler One – Time of the Desert. A limited edition of just 20 pieces, it features a sand colored dial that pays homage to sun-soaked dunes of the UAE. Two of these watches will be offered to the first place winners of the Chopard Classic Rally Dubai 2017.
