The book, titled Selected Superlatives, features “the best watches in the world” photographed and selected by an independent jury of nearly one hundred international experts, including journalists, collectors, and bloggers — all together in a single handsomely appointed volume. The first Watchstars awards were given for the year 2014-2015. The five categories awarded include Classic Stars, Technical Stars, Design Stars, Stars of a Lifetime and New Stars. The winners for 2016-2017 include Rolex Air-King, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Super Sonnerie, Slim de Hèrmes Grand Feu Enamel, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Extra Thin and Bulgari Octo Finisimmo Minute Repeater. The awards ceremony is held during Baselworld every year.

The book features fantastic photos and in-depth, expert articles about top brands like Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Tudor, Rolex, and others. The watches have been photographed by Olaf Köster, who regularly shoots for magazines like WatchTime, Chronos and Uhren.
