John Krasinski has been wearing the Khaki Field Auto Chrono in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series on Amazon Prime. The watch was first released last year to coincide with the premiere of the streaming series, and this month makes its second-season debut on the wrist of the title character.

The steel case has a black PVD coating for a stealth look

John Krasinski stars as Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst who in Season One begins his adventure by tracking two potentially suspicious shipment of illegal arms to the Venezuelan jungle. This mission leads him on an action-packed trek involving conspiracy, corruption, and chaos, and taking him through the United States, U.K., Russia, and Venezuela. The newest season premiered on Amazon Prime Video at the start of this month.

The chronograph has a 30 minute counter

Throughout his adventures, Ryan wears a special edition of the Hamilton Khaki Field Auto Chrono, with its base design elements blackened throughout to give it a very mysterious and stealthy look. The watch uses a 42-mm steel case with PVD coating, with a textured, black rubber strap, tiered chronograph pushers, and a large screw-down crown.

The black tones make the watch wear smaller on the wrist

On the dial of the watch is an outer, racing-inspired minute ring, applied Arabic hour markers, including an enlarged numeral at 9 o’clock, and a 3 o’clock day-date indicator. Two subdials, for the 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters, occupy the 12 and 6 o’clock positions, respectively, with syringe-tipped hour and minute hands steadily passing the time while a red-tipped chronograph seconds counter stands ready to time the wearer’s latest adventure to the second. Inside the all-black model is the H-21 automatic chronograph movement (which uses the ETA 7750 as its base), capable of a 60-hour power reserve.

The movement is based on the classic ETA 7750

The continued appearance of the watch on Jack Ryan’s wrist should be no surprise, as since 1932 Hamilton watches have made appearances in more than 500 features films, and surely countless television programs. The most recent example earlier this summer was a special Ventura model developed for the wrists of the Men in Black, though likely the most iconic appearance by a Hamilton watch in recent years was in 2014’s Insterstellar.

The Hamilton Khaki Field Auto Chrono is available for purchase now, directly through Hamilton and at boutiques worldwide, for $1,795.
