The Superocean Heritage ’57 Rainbow limited edition was the highlight of the vintage-inspired Superocean Heritage ’57 capsule collection unveiled in April. The limited edition watch with the black dial was a breakout hit for the brand and now a version in blue has been introduced to benefit medical charities fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. So say hello to the new Superocean Heritage Automatic 42 ’57 Limited Edition II.

The watch has a distinct colored lume highlights on the dial

The watch uses a 42 mm steel case with a bidirectional, oversized, convex bezel with a blue ceramic insert. The case is topped by a sapphire crystal, is fitted with a steel caseback, and is depth-rated to 100 meters. The “Rainbow” is a reference to the colored lume highlights marking the hours on the blue dial.

The blue dial follows the original black dial rainbow diver

Oversized applied hour numerals are set against a white printed minute ring on the outer edge and a hybrid tick/circular styling that is unique to the vintage SuperOcean design indicates each quarter-hour. A distinctive pair of hands indicates time, with the hours indicated by a stylized arrow pointer and the minutes by a slim, tapering sword hand; the seconds hand is a simple stick counter.

The closed steel caseback is engraved with the words “One of 1000” and beneath it is the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 10, a self-winding movement that’s actually a hot-rodded ETA 2892-A2 movement.

Breitling has identified charities in France, Italy, England, Japan, Spain, and the United States as beneficiaries. It's no coincidence that these are also Breitling's six most important markets. The brand is also donating an additional CHF1,000 to these charities for each of the first 100 Superocean Heritage ’57 Limited Edition II watches sold via their website. In total, the company will donate CHF 500,000, which will be split equally among six charities. In addition, one watches will be auctioned by Charitybuzz, an organization known for its auctions of unique gifts and experiences in support of worthy causes, in June. The winner will get to have a digital live chat with surfer Kelly Slater. The watch is priced at $4520 on the leather strap and $5,025 on the steel mesh bracelet.
