Fleurier-based Bovet and UAE retailer Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons have announced the launch of their latest collaboration – an exclusive 19Thirty Dimier UAE Limited Edition that riffs on the Swiss brand’s entry-level model but includes many design flourishes suggested by their local partner. The watch is a celebration of the retailer’s 70th anniversary and is limited to 50 pieces only.

The yellow sub dials have a luminescent coating

The 19Thirty Dimier range features more classically round-shaped cases as opposed to the more complex Amadeo Convertible cases from the House of Bovet. This particular model, 42 mm wide, is the first time Bovet has used a black DLC-coated steel case. It is only 9.55 mm thick, is depth-rated to 30 meters, and is fitted with a sapphire crystal caseback and a yellow sapphire cabochon on the crown.

Two sub dials, both coated with yellow luminescent material, dominate the face of the watch. The larger of the sub dials indicate the hours and minutes set against a mix of Arabic and Hindi numerals – a nod to regional tastes. The smaller sub dial houses the running seconds hand, here again we see a mix of Arabic and Hindi numerals. The two striking yellow circles sit in stark contrast against the blackened Côtes de Genève-decorated mainplate of the movement.

The Bovet Fleur de Lotus logo in white is seen on the mainplate

A subtle inscription on the barrel at 12 o’ clock is a nod to Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons’ tagline and reads “Curators of Time Since 1950”. This is the first time a tagline from an external entity has appeared on the Swiss brand’s dial. Also of interest is the fact that the Bovet name does not appear anywhere on the face of the watch, instead the Bovet Fleur de Lotus logo in white is seen just above the running seconds sub-dial. A power reserve indicator is seen at the 6 o’ clock position.

The watch is powered by the hand-wound Caliber 15BM04. Despite the fact that it only has one mainspring barrel, the movement still has a 7-day power reserve and is finished to the high standards that you would expect from the Fleurier brand. The escapement beats at a traditional 3 Hz (21, 4600 vph) and the movement has 35 jewels.

The watch is accompanied by a Misbaha and an additional rubber strap

Bovet pairs this watch with a black alligator leather strap with yellow stitches and a black DLC coated tang buckle. The watch is presented in a custom box from The House of Bovet that contains a Misbaha (prayer beads) featuring black onyx and yellow jade beads and an additional yellow and black rubber strap. Limited to just 50 pieces, the watch is priced at AED 105,000.
