The Luminor Marina Carbotech is a finely executed stealth version of Panerai’s quintessential diver. Panerai had previously crafted a Luminor Marina in Carbotech, but this one has a different dial. Bright blue luminescent hour markers have replaced the beige Super-LumiNova from the earlier version. And in place of the applied circular indices, there are stick markers in this new version.

These changes, along with the grained carbon-fibre case, lend the Luminor Carbotech an understated, monochromatic look. Formed by superimposing layers of carbon fibre under pressure, Carbotech is a proprietary composite developed by Panerai. Highly resistant to external shocks and corrosion, Carbotech’s irregular texture imparts a unique character to each watch.

The P.9010 calibre within enables a quick-set hour hand that simultaneously adjusts the date and boasts a power reserve of three days. The black, water-resistant strap made of rubber-like Sportech, matches the case and dial with its blue stitching.

If you liked the colossal LAB-ID but didn’t have the wrists for its 49mm case, this watch can be considered a pared down version at a still substantial 44mm.
